Rocket Ship Repair at Todd Grove Park PDF Print E-mail

Believe it or not we're still working on the rocket ship repair in Todd Grove Park! It's actually starting to move along now. We've got new stairs and a new slide and we're working on installing those parts now. We had a bit of a snag in that the old rocket ship needed to be retrofit with some metal work in order to allow attachment of our new stairs and slide. Some great guys at Retech volunteered their services to design and weld these brackets. We plan to work more frequently on the project now that we've got some of the roadblocks cleared. You should see some significant progress over the next few months.

Mendocino Monster Century Bicycle Ride PDF Print E-mail

The Mendocino Monster Century Bicycle Ride is happening on June 10, 2012 this year. There are two rides – the Hairy Monster is 62 miles (100 kilometers) and includes 6900 feet of climbing – the Scary Monster is 100 miles (160 kilometers) and includes 9200 feet of climbing. Both rides start in Ukiah at Mendocino College and the Scary Monster goes all the way to the coast and back. Both rides are quite challenging but very beautiful. These are really well organized rides with outstanding rest stops, great food, full SAG vehicle support and a great barbecue meal at the end of the ride. If you're up for the challenge, please sign up. And don't forget to invite all your cycling friends. You can discover more about the Mendocino Monster and register online at www.mendocinomonster.com. The Rotary Club of Ukiah is putting on this event as a fundraiser to help with the worldwide elimination of Polio and other international and local service projects.

Todd Grove Rocket Ship Video PDF Print E-mail

We've got a video of our Rocket Ship repair at Todd Grove Park in Ukiah!

George Phelan took the photos and video of Lee Kraemer and Rich Burns doing work on the nose cone. They removed the old chipped and peeling nose cone and had it powder-coated with red paint. Then they reinstalled it. Other Rotary members painted other parts of the rocket and helped with this project.
